Tune your ears into the natural world

"I feel that we need to listen to the natural world afresh, and hear ourselves as part of it. This connection, both personal and social, is a celebration of our relationship to all life, and richly informs our role as caring custodians of a fragile biosphere."

Andrew Skeoch, an educator, naturalist, and renowned nature sound recordist from Australia, draws upon three decades of field recording experience in wild locations worldwide. His work not only encourages us to listen more attentively to the sounds of nature but also imparts the skills and insights needed to do so effectively.

In his book Deep Listening to Nature, Andrew invites readers to open their ears to the natural world. Through a blend of reflection, nature observations, and travel diary entries, he explores fundamental questions: What does attentive listening reveal about the functioning of living systems in nature? And why do birds, in particular, engage in such lyrical and extraordinary interactions?

Join Andrew for an immersive experience that encourages us to appreciate the intricate symphony of the natural environment.

Copies of Andrew's book will be for sale at the event. This event will be held in the Meeting Room.
