Everyone is welcome at Shoalhaven Libraries. Whether you’re finding your next great read, studying, using our computers or Wi-Fi, or relaxing in our comfy lounges, we love having you here. If you’re a ratepayer or permanent resident of the Shoalhaven you can join Shoalhaven Libraries (it’s FREE!) and enjoy a world of books, music, movies and more.

How to join Shoalhaven Libraries
Whether you join online or in person, you’ll need to present staff with identification that shows your current Shoalhaven address before you receive your new library card.
Can kids join, too?
Of course! Young people and children under 16 will need the permission of their parent or guardian. Parents and guardians will need to present identification showing their current Shoalhaven address too.
Library members can:
- borrow items
- use the library’s computers and printing facilities
- access the Digital Library
Only interested in digital resources? Become a digital member!
Join online any time of day to get access to our Digital Library, which includes eBook and eAudiobook subscriptions, movie streaming services, online newspapers, and study resources. Read, watch, stream, listen and study anytime, anywhere, without stepping foot in the library!
Building Brighter Babies
Just had a bub? Your newborn can become a library member and receive a library bag with a free book to keep, as well as information about reading to children, digital resources for little ones and our free children's events and programs.
Junior Readers Rewards Program
This program is for Junior Shoalhaven Libraries members and participants must have their own library card. Once they have signed up to the program, participants will receive a Junior Reader Rewards card. Every time a child visits a Shoalhaven Libraries branch their card will be stamped. After 10 stamps they will receive a prize (prizes may differ between library branches).
Non-Resident Memberships
Here for work or a holiday? Become a non-resident member. If you live outside of the Shoalhaven and can provide proof of your residential address, you may join our library service as a Shoalhaven Non-Resident member.
To join as a Non-Resident member, you’ll need to:
- have identification with you with proof of residential address or name.
This type of membership allows you to borrow five (5) items for 4 weeks from any Shoalhaven branch, with one renewal. If you have no fixed address acceptable forms of identification including Medicare, Centrelink, bank, or concession cards to confirm your name.
Other Memberships
If you reside in the Shoalhaven, but have no fixed address you may join our library service as an Unconfirmed Address member.
To join as an Unconfirmed Address member, you’ll need to:
- have identification with you with proof of your name.
This type of membership allows you to borrow five (5) items for 4 weeks from any Shoalhaven branch, with one renewal. Acceptable forms of identification including Medicare, Centrelink, bank, or concession cards to confirm your name.
